Emursive Productions, the producing company behind Sleep No More is seeking a Carpenter to work on their newest production Life And Trust. The Carpenter, reporting to the Scenery & Props Supervisor, is responsible for preserving and maintaining all elements of the Scenic Design of the production to the quality of the design intention. They will be responsible for preserving the good condition of all scenic and prop elements and ensuring that they are safe and well functioning. The Carpenter will maintain a safe and functional workspace, oversee tool maintenance, and respond to scenic notes as they arise while remaining in compliance with local, state and federal regulations
We are seeking someone who is a true self-starter, a multi-tasker, and someone able to prioritize responsibilities. Candidates will demonstrate attention to detail, creative problem-solving skills, possess and exhibit empathy, exude a good sense of humor, and a track record of on-their-feet problem solving. Candidates must be proactive and possess clear communication skills and the ability to be a team player.

Responsibilities:
- As part of the joint prop and scenic department, the Carpenter will work closely with the Scenic & Props Supervisor as well as other production departments, including Stage Management, Lighting, Costumes, and Audio, to maintain existing prop and scenic elements of the production. They will report to the Scenery & Props Supervisor..
- Ensure a safe working environment at all times, and will report any unsafe conditions or behavior to the Director of Production or Human Resources.
- Follow a budget determined by the Director of Production in conjunction with the Scenery & Props Supervisor. They will keep thorough and accurate records of all spending in accordance with the systems set in place by the Director of Production.
- Facilitate the stocking of lumber, hardware, and other relevant materials in and keep an inventory of materials.
- Responsible for maintaining and servicing all shop tools and equipment, and arrange for professional maintenance and repairs of all tools beyond the reasonable scope of the individual.
- Provide construction drafting where no additional technical engineering is required for the purpose of informing carpentry staff how to properly execute tasks.
- Be familiar with the run and action of the show, and make time to view the show as an audience member regularly.
- Should be independent, have an excellent attitude, and a passion for storytelling in immersive environments.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of professional experience
- Associate of Arts or BFA in Technical Theatre/related field or equivalent experience.
- Ability to read technical drawings.
- Experience working with varied materials and a wide variety of both powered and hand tools.
- Experience building and loading in scenery on site.
- Demonstrate strong collaborative, communication, and technical skills
- Demonstrate a willingness to maintain high standards for a quality, safe, and supportive work environment
- Demonstrate a strong sense of self-efficiency and organization
- Demonstrate strong problem solving skills and efficiency when working under pressure, time constraints, dim lighting, show volume, and in view of audience members.

Environmental Factors:
*Can complete responsibilities and duties under the following conditions when needed*
- Strobing lights
- Continuous, large quantities of haze and atmospherics
- Minimal to low lighting
- Spaces which contain large amounts of dust & uneven flooring
- Numerous trips up and down six floors, material carry as needed through the main staircase when elevator sizes are insufficient.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs unaided.
Rate:
$30/hr, Expected 40 hrs/wk
Full Time position through early 2025 with possibility for extensions
