Sound Designer for Seussical the Musical

Company: EPIC Players

EPIC Players, a nonprofit, neuro-inclusive theater company, is seeking an experienced Sound Designer to join our team for the upcoming production of Seussical the Musical. This position is ideal for a skilled sound designer with a passion for storytelling and an interest in creating accessible theater experiences alongside a Neurodivergent and Disabled cast and crew.

Show Details:

• Tech: April 28th - May 8th
• Show Run: May 8th - May 18th
• Strike: May 18th
• Location: ART/NY, The Mezzanine Theatre, NYC
• Production Meetings: Monthly via Zoom

Responsibilities:

• Design, edit, and implement soundscapes and effects that enhance the whimsical and dynamic world of Seussical in alignment with EPIC’s creative and inclusive vision.
• Collaborate with the director, musicians, and creative team to ensure high-quality sound design that is balanced and supports accessibility and sensory considerations for neuro-diverse audiences.
• Oversee sound setup and provide ongoing sound management throughout the production period.
• Hire and manage any sound crew including load-in, A1 and A2.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in sound design, preferably in musical theater.
• Strong understanding of live sound mixing, effects editing, and soundboard operation.
• Excellent teamwork skills, with a willingness to adapt to the needs of a neuro-diverse company and audience.
